Kaufland Romania is launching an ecological education editorial project in collaboration with writer Ioana Chicet-Macoveiciuc.
The volumes “Ema and Eric take care of nature” and “Planeta e casa noastra”, signed by Ioana Chicet-Macoveiciuc, in partnership with Kaufland Romania and Didactica Publishing House, are aimed at children aged 2-3 years, respectively 3-7 years, and explains, in simple and appropriate language, the concepts of recycling and selective collection.
“The lessons we learn from playing are the ones that stay with us for life! I strongly believe in the magic of books to help children and adults better understand complex issues, identify with themselves and feel inspired to find solutions to solve the challenges in their own lives. I believe in the power of humor to help us accept and implement beneficial changes in our lives. These two books with Ema and Eric, characters well known and loved by young readers, will, I hope, befriend many families with difficult concepts like climate change, pollution, saving and recycling, without morals, without pressure, through story and connection,” said Ioana-Chicet Macoveiciuc, author and parenting blogger (printesaurbana.ro).
“Just as the problem of waste did not appear yesterday, from today, the solution will not come overnight either. The idea of this unique project is simple – a healthy society is based on generations educated in the spirit of sustainability, of caring for nature. Preschoolers are most receptive to assimilating and internalizing new information and healthy behaviors that are sustained over the long term. Children learn the fastest if they have age-appropriate support and explanations. We are grateful to our partners, thanks to whom our approach to invest in children’s education is materializing,” said Katharina Scheidereiter, Kaufland Romania CSR Manager.
Through the OvidiuRO Caravan, the volumes “Ema and Eric take care of nature” and “Our planet is our home” will reach 500 kindergartens located in five areas in Romania – the city of Bucharest and the counties of Brașov, Cluj, Iași and Timiș. Each kindergarten will receive a package with 10 sets of books and 10 board games about eco-habits, which will be used in class as support for recycling activities. Teaching staff from the 500 kindergartens will participate in 5 training sessions with literacy and ecology workshops, supported by the OvidiuRO Association and the SNK Association.
