Holcim Romania has announced an investment in the installation of photovoltaic panels to produce renewable energy for five schools and high schools in the local community in the area of the cement factory in Campulung-Muscel, Arges County.

The investment consisted in the installation of 140 monocrystalline photovoltaic panels 545 W / piece, which will benefit over 1000 students and teachers from five educational institutions: Dinicu Golescu Campulung National College, Dan Barbilian Campulung Theoretical High School, Petre Tutea Secondary School Boteni, High School No. 1 Valea Mare Pravat, Stoenesti High School.

Edmund Piess, Holcim Romania Sustainability Director, said: “We support the transition to a sustainable world by investing in production systems that reduce CO2 emissions, by producing green building materials, but also by encouraging local communities to adopt sustainable models. In the context of our constant concerns for energy efficiency within the company, we want to contribute to the reduction of energy consumption and implicitly the carbon footprint in our communities as well. We believe in innovation and that’s why we encourage it, especially in the educational system, where we support the use of alternative, clean energy production solutions, non-polluting solutions with unlimited potential. Thus, we manage to reduce CO2 emissions, but also to convey to students the principles of a sustainable life.”

In the last five years, the Holcim Campulung cement factory has contributed to the digitalization and modernization of schools in Campulung and the surrounding communes, with computer labs, interactive teaching displays, but also with ergonomic furniture, to create a modern learning space.
