“The Romanian sustainability code is a tool that was created to help companies report. We developed both the code and the user guide. We have in public consultation on the government’s website the proposal for a government decision for the operationalization of the Romanian code of sustainability.
This reporting according to the code will be voluntary in order not to complicate the activity of the companies, as the implementation of the CSRD directive follows, and the reports will be made in the future in accordance with this new directive,” Gabriela Ciulacu Bitan, Senior Policy Officer, Department of Sustainable Development, Government of Romania said during Sustainability in Business Forum organized by The Diplomat-Bucharest and Sustainability-Today.
“The Department for Sustainable Development will update the reporting platform after the CSRD directive will be integrated into the national legislation, wanting to help companies report according to the new criteria and standards.
Large companies, with experience in drawing up sustainability reports, will be able to publish these reports on the platform of the Romanian Sustainability Code and thus become a model for smaller companies.”
