RetuRO, the administrator of the Deposit-Return System, the largest circular economy project in Romania, announces the evolution and results of the system eight months after the implementation of the program at the local level.
In the 8 months since the implementation of the DRS system, 1.3 billion packages were returned by consumers, and over 950 million packages entered the recycling facilities, at the national level.
The packaging collection rate records monthly evolving figures, reaching 62 percent in July.
According to official data, 473 million packages were returned in July 2024, with 35.8 percent more compared to June.
