Investment firm Mozaik Investments announces the acquisition of a majority stake in Genesis College, one of the largest private educational institutions in Romania, which this year celebrates 25 years of activity.
After obtaining all necessary approvals, Mozaik will provide growth capital to accelerate the development of the educational network through investments in new campuses and expansion of enrollment capacity, as well as the development of the IB (International Baccalaureate) program.
The value of the projects to be implemented following the transaction is approximately 30 million euros. The file has already been submitted to the Competition Council for approval, and the acquisition will become effective after the Council’s approval, at which point the investment procedure will be formally completed.
Genesis College is currently undergoing expansion by relocating all levels of education – primary, middle school, and high school – into the former Petrom Tower building (part of Petrom City), repurposed from an office tower into an educational unit following an investment of over 2 million euros. The new location will allow Genesis to double its capacity, from 500 to 1,000 students, with plans for the new campus to eventually host up to 3,000 students.
Founded 25 years ago as a private school in the north of the capital and being the first institution accredited in the national curriculum as a private school, Genesis offers a complete educational path – from kindergarten to high school – and is one of the few institutions in Romania accredited to conduct all three programs of the International Baccalaureate educational system (PYP, MYP, and DP). Genesis College has been a pioneer in many educational projects – the first educational institution in the country to fully implement classroom digitalization back in 2014 using Google for Education platforms, the first Romanian private high school to open the economic and business management track accessible to high school students, and the first school to develop a vertical campus.
“I founded Genesis in the year 2000 with the objective of building a high-performance educational system, adapted to current economic and social realities. After two and a half decades, partnering with a financial partner like Mozaik represents a validation of this effort and an opportunity for healthy scaling. We want to continue growing sustainably, to attract top teachers, and to offer our students an international-level education in a modern, empathetic environment tailored to future challenges. At the same time, we believe that investments in education should be treated with the same rigor as those in infrastructure or health, and this partnership confirms that vision,” said Ioana Necula, founder and CEO of Genesis College.
