Deloitte Romania assisted the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) in the effort of adopting sustainability practices in sports<\/strong>, by creating training modules (e-learning) that will guide dozens of federations, clubs, sponsors and other stakeholders in the field of Olympic sports in Europe in the implementation of strategies to reduce the environmental footprint<\/strong> of sports events, especially by reducing the carbon emissions<\/strong> associated with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deloitte’s support came in the context of the Green Flame<\/em> project, financed through the Erasmus+ Program by the European Commission, in which the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee is a partner, alongside the Portuguese Olympic Committee and non-governmental entities such as European Network for Innovation and Knowledge (EUNIK), CuiCui Studios and Sport Evolution Alliance (SEA), under the coordination of the Spanish Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deloitte Romania got involved in the project following an invitation from COSR<\/strong>, by developing, as a pro bono contribution, the training modules on the identification and measurement of the sustainability impact<\/strong>, the carbon footprint<\/strong> – understanding, measurement, and reduction strategies -, and respectively \u201cgreen\u201d supply<\/strong>. The modules created by Deloitte Romania\u2019s team of experts also offer several recommendations regarding the prioritization<\/strong> of different actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were honoured by the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee\u2019s invitation to contribute with our expertise to this large and impactful project for the Olympic community and for sports in general. The fact that sport, as a universal field, essential for the balance of individuals and societies, but also as a global industry with impressive annual figures, is aware of its environmental footprint and actively works to reduce it is an important signal of responsibility, which can set the tone for a commitment on a larger scale. We want to continue to contribute to this effort, in line with the global policy of Deloitte, which is a Global Partner of the International Olympic Committee for the next decade, with the belief that the world of sport and business can share best practices with each other in the race to achieve their goals, including sustainability-related objectives,\u201d stated Sorin Elisei, Director, Deloitte Romania, Leader of <\/strong>Sustainability<\/strong><\/a> Practice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training modules created by Deloitte and COSR<\/strong> were recently launched in Bucharest, together with the Sport Go Green<\/em><\/strong> app<\/strong>, also developed within the Green Flame<\/em> program, which will allow the organizers of sporting events to measure and compare the level of carbon emissions in various stages of the preparation and running of the competitions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
