In line with Leroy Merlin\u2019s vision of \u201cA better home for everyone and for the planet,\u201d the report presents concrete and measurable results in building a sustainable business that acts responsibly towards people and the environment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, Leroy Merlin Romania continued its investments in company decarbonization and in expanding its range of sustainable products. As a result, the company reduced Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2.46% and sold 99% wood-based products from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified sources. In addition, by optimizing logistics and transportation operations, emissions associated with these activities were reduced by approximately 13%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simultaneously, circular economy and environmental awareness campaigns continued to yield significant results: 4,581 electrical appliances were collected for recycling (16,143 kg), and 65,000 Christmas trees were returned for reuse \u2013 double the number from three years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Human Performance \u2013 A Culture of Safety and Care for People<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leroy Merlin remains committed to the well-being of its internal teams, with significant progress in improving working conditions. In 2024, the workplace accident rate dropped by 14%, and the severity rate decreased by approximately 68%. At the same time, the Employee Experience Index (EXI) rose by 3 points, reaching a score of 60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Internally, the company ran awareness campaigns focused on health and workplace accident prevention, fostering a culture of safety and mutual support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Social Responsibility \u2013 Environment, Education, and Health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, Leroy Merlin implemented more than 50 social responsibility projects, with a total investment of over \u20ac1,500,000, focused on three strategic pillars: Environment, Education, and Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the environmental field, afforestation, clean-up actions, and the development of memorial parks were organized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In education, Leroy Merlin supported the renovation and equipping of schools in vulnerable communities, along with nationwide educational projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the health sector, the company funded renovation works in hospitals and supported initiatives dedicated to the elderly and people in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe year 2024 was a defining moment in our sustainability strategy, in which we laid the foundation for the sustainable transformation of our company \u2013 from using 80% renewable energy, to the tangible reduction of CO<\/em><em>\u2082<\/em><em> emissions, and supporting over 50 impactful projects in the areas of environment, education, and health. We\u2019re not just talking about operational performance, but about a culture of responsibility, where care for people, communities, and the planet drives our daily decisions.
