{"id":4403,"date":"2025-09-30T11:54:24","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T11:54:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sustainability-today.ro\/?p=4403"},"modified":"2025-09-30T11:54:26","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T11:54:26","slug":"met-groups-climate-impact-report-2024-23-percent-reduction-in-scope-1-and-2-emissions-and-reduced-electricity-carbon-intensity-by-12-percent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sustainability-today.ro\/index.php\/2025\/09\/30\/met-groups-climate-impact-report-2024-23-percent-reduction-in-scope-1-and-2-emissions-and-reduced-electricity-carbon-intensity-by-12-percent\/","title":{"rendered":"MET Group\u2019s Climate Impact Report 2024: 23 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and reduced electricity carbon intensity by 12 percent"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Swiss-based energy company MET Group publishes its Climate Impact Report 2024, unveiling a sharpened commitment to supporting Europe\u2019s energy transition \u2013 whilst driving measurable environmental impact across its operations in 32 national gas markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key highlights from MET Group\u2019s Climate Impact Report 2024 include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MET reports a 23 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and reduced electricity carbon intensity by 12 percent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Installed renewable capacity increased to 414 MWp with new solar projects in Spain and Hungary, contributing to 617 GWh of green electricity generation, up 16 percent from the previous year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>34 percent of total capital expenditure (CAPEX) were invested in green transition initiatives, including renewables generation project and battery energy storage systems (BESS), reinforcing MET Group\u2019s position as an energy transition company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Energy efficiency is at the heart of MET Group\u2019s agenda, as it is illustrated by a carbon intensity of electricity production falling by 12 percent in 2024, from 303 tonnes of CO\u2082 equivalent per gigawatt-hour (tCO\u2082e\/GWh) to 266 tCO\u2082e\/GWh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 34 percent of CAPEX channelled into energy transition initiatives underscores the company\u2019s commitment to shaping a lower-carbon, flexible, and future-ready energy portfolio. This investment focus reflects MET Group\u2019s ambition to accelerate the integration of renewables and BESS as core pillars of its growth strategy. Looking ahead, MET is developing 1,000+ MWp of renewable energy projects, in addition to 130 MWp of battery storage systems in operation, or under construction across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noubi Ben Hamida, Holding CFO of MET Group said: <em>\u201cWe remain committed to our goal of supporting Europe\u2019s ongoing energy transition and believe that MET Group plays a vital role in this process.
