{"id":4464,"date":"2025-10-09T08:28:34","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T08:28:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sustainability-today.ro\/?p=4464"},"modified":"2025-10-09T08:28:35","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T08:28:35","slug":"e-on-sustainability-report-2024-nearly-a-quarter-of-e-on-employees-volunteered-in-community-projects-in-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sustainability-today.ro\/index.php\/2025\/10\/09\/e-on-sustainability-report-2024-nearly-a-quarter-of-e-on-employees-volunteered-in-community-projects-in-romania\/","title":{"rendered":"E.ON Sustainability Report 2024: Nearly a quarter of E.ON employees volunteered in community projects in Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">E.ON invested approximately <strong>\u20ac2.2 million<\/strong> last year in community projects across Romania, bringing the total amount directed towards such initiatives in recent years to <strong>\u20ac22 million<\/strong>, according to the company\u2019s <strong>2024 Sustainability Report<\/strong>, published recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, more than <strong>1,500 employees<\/strong> took part in volunteer activities, meaning that nearly a quarter of E.ON Group employees in Romania dedicated around <strong>6,000 hours<\/strong> to supporting communities. In total, <strong>150 NGOs and institutions<\/strong> were supported, benefiting <strong>40,000 people directly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main areas of community engagement focused on improving safety culture and preparing future generations. Climate change and environmental protection, through projects and campaigns dedicated to energy efficiency, were also top priorities in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>\u201cD\u0103ruie\u0219te Lumin\u0103\u201d (Give Light)<\/strong> campaign set a new record last year, with <strong>2.6 million kWh of energy<\/strong> donated to schools, inclusive education institutions, and other social organizations supporting vulnerable people. Since its launch in 2015, the campaign has reached a total of <strong>6.85 million kWh of energy donated<\/strong> by E.ON, together with Romanians, to numerous social centers, schools, and hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the slogan <strong>\u201cTogether We Make a Difference\u201d<\/strong>, E.ON Romania supported vulnerable groups through both dedicated campaigns and employee volunteer work in small communities identified with the help of local associations and NGOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over 1,500 employees participated in volunteer activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Results included: building playgrounds in inclusive education centers, preparing and distributing hundreds of hot meals in social canteens, donating hundreds of packages to children and people in need, refurbishing dozens of school yards and interior spaces, creating welcoming reading areas and school libraries, cleaning and restoring tourist trails, planting <strong>over 58,000 trees<\/strong>, and organizing several blood donation campaigns at E.ON offices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In total: <strong>approximately 6,000 volunteer hours<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>\u201cTogether for Safety\u201d<\/strong> partnership between E.ON, Inspectoratul General pentru Situa\u021bii de Urgen\u021b\u0103, Departamentul pentru Situa\u021bii de Urgen\u021b\u0103 and Delgaz Grid celebrated its <strong>12th anniversary<\/strong> last year. Every year, around <strong>5 million Romanians<\/strong> are informed about safe energy use through TV and radio campaigns, as well as social media. In 2024, the <strong>\u201cDetector for Life\u201d<\/strong> campaign led to the distribution and installation of <strong>10,000 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors<\/strong> in households across 20 counties, highlighting their importance in preventing tragedies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>\u201cEnergy in Childhood Schools\u201d<\/strong> project modernized the lighting systems in three schools in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2015, <strong>86 schools<\/strong> have been equipped with more than <strong>41,000 lighting fixtures<\/strong> and <strong>96,000 LED tubes<\/strong>, improving learning conditions for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the <strong>\u201cLessons About Energy\u201d<\/strong> program, <strong>83 employee volunteers<\/strong> delivered <strong>232 hours<\/strong> of classes on energy, safety, and environmental protection last year.
