This represents an increase of more than 1,000 volunteer hours compared with the previous year. In total, E.ON supported 139 institutions and non-governmental organizations, reaching around 90,000 direct beneficiaries.

The Group’s main areas of community involvement focused on promoting a culture of safety and preparing future generations, addressing climate change and protecting the environment, as well as supporting energy efficiency projects and campaigns.

The “Together for Safety” partnership, launched in 2012 together with the Department for Emergency Situations and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, reaches more than 5 million Romanians every year with messages promoting the safe use of energy. The campaign is supported through TV and radio spots, as well as social media initiatives under the “Safe Romania” umbrella.

Over the past two years, the “Detector for Life” campaign has distributed and installed 20,000 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the homes of vulnerable families across several Romanian counties. The devices can make the difference between an incident and a tragedy and have already proven their life-saving role in several situations that could otherwise have had tragic consequences.

Through the “Give the Gift of Light” campaign, E.ON provides free energy to social institutions, schools and families in need. Since the initiative was launched in 2015, the company has donated approximately 9 million kWh of energy to 89 institutions and more than 3,300 vulnerable families.

Under the “Roots for the Future” programme, E.ON employees have planted more than 235,000 trees across 44 hectares to date. In 2025 alone, more than 24,000 trees were planted in Mureș, Covasna and Gura Humorului.

E.ON volunteers were also involved in ecotourism and sustainability projects, including cleaning hiking trails along the Via Transilvanica route and restoring trails in the counties of Mureș, Brașov, Alba and Covasna.

The “Energy in the Schools of Childhood” project continued in 2025, with lighting systems modernized in 15 educational institutions in the counties of Mureș, Botoșani, Maramureș and Arad. Since 2015, the programme has equipped 102 schools, benefiting more than 60,000 students and teachers.

Through the “Childhood Parks” initiative, E.ON created two new playgrounds in 2025 — at the “Curious Elephant” Kindergarten in Sibiu and at a school in Râciu, Mureș County. This brings the total number of playgrounds developed through the programme since 2007 to 14.

E.ON also continued its “Energy Lessons” programme, through which employee volunteers visit hundreds of classrooms every year. The sessions teach students about the safe use of energy sources and encourage them to adopt more energy-efficient habits.

E.ON invested more than 2.2 million euros last year in projects supporting the communities where it operates, bringing the Group’s total investment in such initiatives in Romania to 24 million euros since entering the local market, according to its 2025 Sustainability Report, recently published.
