Farmec, the largest Romanian cosmetics manufacturer, collected over 230,000 packaging this year in the “Take care of nature as you take care of yourself” campaign. At the end of October, the company surpassed the number of recycled packaging in 2022.

Most of the products brought by consumers to the collection points were made of plastic and glass, especially packaging of creams, shampoos or hair treatments, shower gels and liquid soaps.

“In 2020, when we launched the campaign “Take care of nature as you take care of yourself”, we made a commitment to limit the impact on the environment and encourage responsible behavior towards nature, because it depends on us what we will leave as a legacy to the next generations. We thus became the first Romanian manufacturer to offer customers the opportunity to return packaging from the portfolio in exchange for a product offered as a gift, and the results we enjoy today would not have been possible without the involvement and increased interest of consumers, who supported us from the beginning in this endeavor,” said Andra Șumandea, Marketing Specialist within the company.

The mechanism of the recycling campaign is simple: for four packages of products from the Farmec portfolio delivered to any Farmec and Gerovital store in the country, consumers are rewarded with a gift product. In order to be recycled, the containers must be emptied, rinsed and cleaned.

The campaign was launched as a pilot program in 2020, in five Farmec and Gerovital brand stores in Cluj-Napoca, Târgu Mureș and Oradea, being expanded at the beginning of 2021 to more than 30 units throughout the country. Today, the “Take care of nature as you take care of yourself” campaign is available in stores across the country.
