TenarisSilcotub announces the completion of the project of equipping the mechanical workshop of the Technical College “Alesandru Papiu Ilarian” (API) from Zalău with a latest generation numerical control lathe. API College is the first high school education unit in Sălaj County to benefit from such an investment for educational purposes.

This lathe is identical to the ones used in industry today, allowing the processing of a wide range of parts through the appropriate programming of the machine. The equipment is equipped with an educational software simulator, which allows simulating the production of parts in the virtual environment, effectively preparing the production process before its execution. The investment also includes teacher training and a virtual system for viewing processing processes that assists the learning process.

“Technical education is our model of progress for a sustainable future, which we build together with the communities we are part of. Our strategy is to share and develop industrial culture, transparency, continuous improvement, innovation and teamwork. Education is the engine of society’s transformation and is the fundamental element for progress and social mobility, that’s why we continue to invest in education and in partner high schools”, said Mihaela Popescu, President of TenarisSilcotub, during the project’s inauguration event.

In the last decade, TenarisSilcotub has invested over 4.7 million lei in educational projects, strengthening technical education in the communities of Zalău and Călărași. In total, 8 specialized laboratories and workshops have been equipped so that future technicians and engineers can develop skills relevant to their careers.
