Since the beginning of this year, all UniCredit Bank offices use 100 percent renewable energy, provided by Renovatio Trading, according to a company statement.

Mihaela Lupu, CEO and President of the UniCredit Bank Directorate: “From January 2024, all our offices consume only energy from renewable sources. UniCredit Bank thus manages to take another significant step towards the net zero objective. In addition, all renewable energy consumed is produced in Romania. We remain constantly concerned about this approach through concrete actions and will continue to support the transition to a sustainable economy, as we all want.”

In parallel, as part of the commitment assumed to play a central role in facilitating the transition to a more sustainable economy, in accordance with our strategy and the strategic plan for the implementation of ESG principles, UniCredit Bank supports its companies and partners in their efforts for increasing efficiency and achieving energy independence.

Concretely, the bank accelerated the granting of financing for the realization of investment projects aimed at improving the efficiency of electricity consumption, including through the installation of photovoltaic panels for its clients, companies from various sectors of activity.

At the same time, UniCredit Bank grants financing for investment projects in new energy production capacities from renewable solar sources, projects with a positive impact in Romania’s transition towards clean energy. Among the projects successfully completed in the last period is the financing in the total amount of 39.3 million euros granted to Comcris Energy SRL, a subsidiary of the electricity production company from renewable sources, Enery, based in Vienna. The financing package supports the development, construction and operation of the 51.4 MW DC Şarmășag photovoltaic plant, located in Sălaj county.
