Every year, the non-profit organization CDP examines and evaluates the data voluntarily submitted by companies and cities to make visible the global impact on the climate. REHAU has been participating since 2014, and this year it received a B grade for the third time in a row.
The data collected and evaluated by the non-profit environmental organization is considered the gold standard when it comes to evaluating companies and cities in terms of ecological criteria. Last year saw record participation, as more than 23,000 companies voluntarily shared comprehensive data on their impacts on climate, water and forests.
Internationally, both REHAU Industries and REHAU Automotive, which from 2022 operate independently, achieved the top B rating in the CDP 2023 ranking, exceeding the industry average of C rating in “Plastics production”. Also in the detailed assessment, REHAU Automotive excels with an A grade for “Emission reduction initiatives and low-carbon products”.
As a global leader, REHAU recognizes the essential role it plays in shaping a sustainable future and promoting environmental responsibility. This commitment is also easily noticeable in Romania, where the company carries out annual CSR actions, but also makes constant efforts to be a company as sustainable as possible. REHAU is shaping the future as sustainably as possible, because sustainability is firmly embedded in the strategic decision-making process.
“REHAU Romania has carried out numerous sustainable actions, among which are the relocation of offices in Bucharest and Cluj to energy-efficient buildings, the furnishing of offices with sustainable solutions, but also the promotion of ecological behaviors among employees. Also, for our colleagues, we held trainings on topics aimed at product recycling, and we always tried to offer energy-efficient solutions to our customers. Thus, we show our commitment to nature and to future generations”, said Alexandru Oprea, Country Manager REHAU Romania.
Currently, REHAU aims to increase the amount of recycled materials in production by 20% by 2025. More than half of REHAU window profiles already contain up to 75% recycled granules, and by 2035, the company aims to have a neutral production in terms of CO2 emissions at global level. This has already been implemented in some locations.
