Flip.ro, the Romanian platform that gives new life to refurbished electronic devices, has concluded the fiscal year with a 45 percent year-over-year increase, reaching a total gross merchandise volume (GMV) of 80.9 million euros, up from 56 million euros the previous year.
Flip currently employs 286 people, of which over 200 work in the service division, including device refurbishment specialists, pricing operators, and logistics staff.
While smartphones remain the core product category, the company expanded its refurbished portfolio in 2024 to include smartwatches and laptops, in addition to its existing tablets.
Flip.ro continues to invest in its buyback network through partnerships with major players such as eMAG, Flanco, Technomarket, and telecom operators. The “Easy Buyback” program, launched in collaboration with eMAG, enables customers to sell their old devices 100 percent online through a simple process integrated with the purchase of a new product.
Currently available in over 450 partner locations across Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary, Flip’s buyback services recorded a 142 percent growth compared to the previous year. Data from partner retail network shows that 2 out of 3 customers now request the buyback service when purchasing a new device – twice as many as in the last fiscal year.
Flip is strengthening its presence in Southeast Europe, with Greece, Bulgaria, and Hungary emerging as key growth drivers, following an upward trajectory similar to Romania’s.
In 2025, Flip.ro will further diversify its refurbished product offering with the launch of a new category: gaming consoles. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be available for both purchase and trade-in on the platform starting this summer. At the same time, the company plans to introduce smartwatches and laptops across its offline retail network.
