“Our business model started from the need to reuse certain logistics platforms. We have been present in Romania for almost 11 years. We have grown annually, and we are happy that there are discussions about the development of the circular economy in Romania.

I am pleasantly surprised that this topic is on the agenda of the public authorities in the true sense of the word. In the last 4 years we have invested in our infrastructure of service centers. A service center is a production capacity where we inspect, repair, and refurbish logistics platforms that we then put on the market,” Gabriel Ivan, Country Manager, CHEP Romania & Bulgaria said during Circular Economy Conference organized by Sustainability Today.

“We initially had such service centers in Timisoara and Ploiesti. Now we have 6 at the national level and thus we have become more efficient and reduced our carbon emissions by about 120 tons. Practically, we have greatly reduced the transport distance both in the collection area and in the delivery area.

For example, 24 used pallets returning to our circular system is equivalent to saving a mature tree from being cut down.

We want more companies with our profile, in our field, so that we can collaborate to educate the market. We want to invest in educational programs for students and provide them with information about the circular economy.”
