One of the most important global sustainable design competitions, the Holcim Awards, returns in 2023, offering architects, builders, engineers, urban planners, designers, and specialists in other related fields, including students at relevant faculties, the chance to win total prizes of 1,000,000 USD.

The competition is open for entries from February 6 until March 30, 2023.

The global competition is conducted across five regions: Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East Africa, and Asia Pacific, and aims to uncover real-world projects that exemplify sustainable construction.

Proposals must be written in English and emphasize the sustainability component. Projects can be categorized as: design details, design completed, under construction, construction completed. If the proposals are for a project already built or where construction has started, it must be started after January 1, 2022.

According to the eligibility criteria, the applications entered in the competition must include projects that can be realized for a potential or confirmed client, which have a holistic, transformational, scalable character and respect the objectives of the Holcim Foundation regarding sustainable constructions, namely: to contribute to the local valorization of spaces, contribute to community prosperity, have economic viability, and contribute to a healthier planet.

The winners will be announced in November this year, during the Holcim Awards Gala that will take place at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
