ALRO Slatina, one of the largest vertically integrated aluminium producers in Europe, measured by production capacity, announces that it has ranked second in the top of Romania’s most transparent listed companies in terms of ESG reporting.

Global ESG Monitor, the most comprehensive global research project that investigates transparency of non-financial reporting from listed companies, publishes an annual Global Report measuring transparency under six dimensions: balance, comparability, accuracy, timeliness, reliability and comprehensibility. For the first time this year, GEM integrated in their international analysis 20 issuers included in the BET index on the Romanian Stock Exchange, placing ALRO in the high transparency category with a score GEM ASSAYTM of 73/100. Globally, the GEM report is in its second edition and has reached 350 analyzed companies worldwide.

“Being placed as the second most ESG-reporting transparent issuer in Romania represents another confirmation of ALRO’s robust, sound and transparent policy regarding sustainability”, said Marian Nastase, Chairman of the Board of Directors, ALRO. “The significant investments in state-of-the-art technologies to support our goal of increasing operational efficiency and reducing consumption rates while employing the aluminium industry’s latest innovative solutions stand proof of the Company’s sustainable and responsible business practices. This ranking shows that we have managed to transfer all these achievements into a comprehensive and transparent reporting structure that complies with internationally recognized standards, while following best practices for the benefit of all our stakeholders and showing respect and care for the future”, added Marian Nastase.

The Company also received the first certification in Europe under the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative’s Third Version of Performance Standard (“ASI Performance Standard V3”). The ASI Performance Standard V3 defines environmental, social, and governance principles and criteria to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 62 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, indigenous peoples’ rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.
