Kaufland introduces in three stores in Bucharest smart waste bins for the selective collection of batteries, TetraPak packaging, plastic and metal waste, thus simplifying the recycling process for its customers.

Using AI (artificial intelligence) technology, BIN-e contactless smart bins automatically recognize the types of set materials, sort and compress them, controlling the level of filling and data processing for efficient waste management.

Customers can bring in used batteries, TetraPak packaging, plastic waste of all types and metal packaging such as tins or clean cans. Afterwards, the collected waste is taken over for recycling by a specialized partner company, Green PC Ambalaje. The extensive process consists of preparation stages and the actual recycling, through thermoforming.

Currently, BIN-e recycling bins are installed in Kaufland Barbu Vacarescu, Kaufland and Kaufland Mihai Bravu stores in Bucharest.
