Electrica Group launched its Sustainability Report for 2022, which highlights its commitment to contribute to shaping a sustainable future and the progress towards achieving the objectives of sustainable development.
“Globally, the challenges of climate change, poverty, social inequality and environmental degradation are intensifying. In this regard, we firmly believe that the company must accept its obligation to take a more active part in building the sustainable future that we all desire. We have a lot of ESG policies in place at the Group level, and we believe we are not far from the optimal standard. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and promote the circular economy,” said Alexandru Chirita, CEO of Electrica.
“In addition to existing initiatives, we seek to continuously connect our strategies, policies, and present activity with the EU paradigm in order to contribute to the collective effort to minimize the effects of climate change and social disparities. We are also looking at aligning with the proposals of European legislation in the short and medium term, i.e. reporting under the CSRD. Furthermore, we are conscious of the fact that sustainability is one of the four guiding principles of the Electrica Group strategy and one of the essential components for the long-term success of our company. This means that we are constantly striving to integrate the principles of sustainable development into all segments of our business. Additionally, we are dedicated to playing a significant role in the transition to sustainable energy for our clients, the environment, and communities. We are aware that how we manage our environmental impact and the impact we have on the communities in which we operate will influence new business models. As such, we are committed to developing and implementing sustainable practices in all aspects of our business. From our perspective, it is the duty of each and every one of us to contribute to building the kind of future we want and to leave a lasting and strong legacy for future generations, which we can only do together. Thus, responding to ESG challenges will be an important pillar of the Electrica Group in the coming years, and in the coming period we aim to accelerate processes in this focus area.”
