“In the field of the circular economy, we need good vision and organization, both at the level of the Government and at the level of the various components of the circular economy. We have to change our mentality and this is the biggest challenge for us at the Department for Sustainable Development.

We created an inter-institutional system for the circular economy. We have a good strategy and an action plan that I hope will become functional. We are trying to finalize the governance structure,” Laszlo Borbely, State Councillor, Department of Sustainable Development Government of Romania said at a conference organized by Circular Economy Coalition.

“Romania has a huge chance regarding the circular economy. I had meetings with the European Investment Bank, the EBRD and the World Bank. Romania is an interesting area for investments.

Let’s use these opportunities. We must have a collaboration with the banking sector. We will have a one-stop shop platform for the circular economy that will become a guide for players in this sector.

There are 10 commissions established in the governance structure. We have reached the stage where we have to listen to opinions and feedback and see how we support the business environment.

Organization is needed because Romania is a country of opportunities. We will have 2,000 experts in sustainable development in the public administration by 2026. We must think together about this circular economy model.”
