Ministry of Environment: Over 670 million lei for 26 recycling plants in Romania

    Published on

The Environmental Fund Administration has finalized the signing of financing contracts for 26 recycling plants, which will be built with 674.7 million lei through the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR).

“These recycling plants directly contribute to reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, to the development of a modern recycling industry and to the creation of new jobs. It is an essential step to achieve the recycling targets assumed by Romania at European level and to protect natural resources. Also, these recycling plants target priority waste streams, such as plastic waste, construction waste, municipal waste, the management of which was cumbersome and sometimes inefficient. Romania has the chance to become an example in the region in terms of the circular economy and today we are taking a decisive step in this direction,” said the Minister of Environment, Mircea Fechet.

The maximum eligible amount of state aid granted for a project is 8.4 million euros, and the minimum eligible amount is 500,000 euros. Regional state aid can reach up to 75%.
