The company’s sustainability report aims to transparently inform stakeholder groups that have an impact on our business or are affected by our activities (employees, customers, suppliers, central and local authorities, business partners, the communities in which we operate, professional organizations, the press or non-governmental organizations), about the non-financial performance indicators, achievements, challenges and impact of our activity carried out during the fiscal year 2024, synchronized with the reporting period related to the financial year (01.01-31.12.2024).

In this report, data is consolidated at the SAFIR Group level, unless otherwise stated or the context implies otherwise, and the phrase SAFIR, SAFIR Group/Company, “we” and “us” refer to the SAFIR Group or its subsidiaries, as mentioned above. For 2024, reporting is limited to the own operations of the 3 subsidiaries mentioned, even though the materiality assessment analysis (“materiality assessment”) includes both the analysis of impacts related to the SAFIR Group’s own operations and value chain, as well as upstream and downstream business relationships. Time horizons – In this report, the definition of the short term has been agreed as the financial year 2024, respectively the period adopted by the entity as the reporting period in the statutory financial statements, until 31 December 2024.

The “medium term” time horizon is considered to be 3 years, starting immediately after the launch of this report, and the “long term” time horizon is over 5 years, respectively 2030. Where the sustainability report includes additional information arising from other generally accepted sustainability reporting legislation, standards and frameworks, including non-binding guidelines and sectoral guidelines published by other standard-setting bodies (such as the GRI Global Reporting Initiative), these have been clearly identified and presented, with an appropriate reference to the relevant legislation, standard or framework.

George Safir, GM: Our goal, as a family business with a tradition of over eight decades, is to preserve our solid values built over time and to contribute, together with the people we work with, to a good, sustainable future through responsible performance. We took over from our father, Ghiorghi SAFIR, just as he felt the responsibility to carry forward the desire of our grandfather, who recovered the family mill in Văleni and started this business out of love and respect for the legacy left by our great-grandfather, Ioan. We learned from them that, beyond profit, lies a great responsibility – the one that makes the difference between entrepreneurs. We called it “The Way of Being Good”: with the people we work with, with the environment we live in, with animals, but also with our family’s business. For the SAFIR Group, this first sustainability report represents a statement that, from now on, every business decision will be analyzed through the lens of sustainability and responsibility towards the environment, people and animals. The 2024 Sustainability Report of the SAFIR Group reflects our strategic directions, objectives and targets until 2030, how we intend to achieve them, but also the impacts, risks and opportunities that we have identified in this process. We know that our employees are essential in this journey and that only with their help will we succeed in taking sustainability beyond our gates, to our entire value chain.
