TenarisSilcotub, Romania’s leading producer of small-diameter seamless pipes and related services for the energy industry, the automotive sector, the oil and gas sector, and other industrial applications, announces the establishment of the TenarisSilcotub Foundation. This non-profit entity has been created to support the development of technical education in the communities where the company operates and to promote, starting from lower secondary school, the culture and values that define the industrial environment.
“By establishing the TenarisSilcotub Foundation, we reaffirm our long-term commitment to the community and to the future of the industry. We want to build strong bridges between schools and industry, offering pupils and students the chance to develop the skills they need to succeed in their careers and to pursue their passion for technology, engineering, or applied sciences. Education is the foundation of progress. By investing in education, we invest in our future,” said Mihaela Popescu, President of Tenaris Eastern Europe, the North Sea, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Foundation will run programs dedicated to pupils and students, offering scholarships, educational resources, and practical learning opportunities, in line with the vision of the Techint Group foundations, of which Tenaris is a part globally. Through partnerships with educational institutions and local organizations, TenarisSilcotub aims to support the training of a new generation of professionals in technical fields.
Headquartered in Zalău and led by Executive Director Andreea Negreanu, the Foundation will continue major community-impact projects already well recognized locally. These include Roberto Rocca scholarships for students from technological high schools; scholarships for university students enrolled in technical programs; the technical dual education program; the Young Ecologists Academy; the CineLatino film festival; and various volunteer activities.
Over its two decades in Romania, TenarisSilcotub has consistently supported technical education, investing more than 20 million dollars in educational programs and projects.
