E.ON Energie Romania strengthens local economy with 1.83 billion euros in supplier payments in 2025

    Published on

E.ON Energie Romania continued to be an important partner for the Romanian state and local businesses in 2025, generating a significant economic and social impact through its 850 employees and cooperation with nearly 1,000 Romanian suppliers of products and services. The company directed more than RON 9.1 billion (€1.82 billion) in payments to suppliers, while its contributions to the state budget rose to approximately RON 1.1 billion (more than €218 million), according to E.ON Energie Romania’s 2025 Sustainability Report.

Growing interest in renewable energy generation and storage

The company installed more than 4,000 photovoltaic systems for residential customers in 2025, bringing the total number to 8,900 at the end of the year. At the same time, the number of installations equipped with battery storage increased, reflecting growing interest in integrated self-consumption solutions. In the first six months of 2026 alone, 93% of the photovoltaic systems installed by the company for residential customers included battery storage.

To date, E.ON has installed more than 10,500 photovoltaic systems for residential customers. These are complemented by more than 430 photovoltaic plants for businesses — including 401 installed by the end of 2025 — with a combined installed capacity of 89 MWp. These systems contribute to lower energy costs and greater energy independence for businesses.

To provide companies with access to renewable energy at predictable prices, E.ON plans to develop a portfolio of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contracts. As part of this strategy, a photovoltaic plant was built last year for the Webasto factory in Arad.

E.ON is also supporting low-emission transport and encouraging the use of electric vehicles in Romania. Its charging network reached 600 charging points in 2025 and currently exceeds 700 points.

More than €1.8 billion in orders and payments to suppliers

Through its operations, E.ON Energie Romania supports an extensive ecosystem of partners and suppliers. In 2025, the company worked with 1,083 suppliers, 93% of which were Romanian companies. Total payments to these suppliers exceeded RON 9.15 billion (€1.83 billion), with the majority of the amount going to Romanian businesses.

With a customer portfolio of more than 3.5 million, E.ON Energie Romania strengthened its position in the energy market in 2025, remaining one of the country’s leading suppliers of electricity, natural gas and energy solutions.

Last year, the company supplied 18.7 TWh of natural gas, representing approximately 19% of Romania’s national consumption, as well as 3.2 TWh of electricity, equivalent to around 7% of national consumption.

E.ON Energie Romania is also one of the country’s major taxpayers. In 2025, it contributed nearly RON 1.1 billion (more than €218 million) to the state budget, an increase of approximately 3% compared with the previous year.
