AFI Arad obtains LEED Gold certification for all four buildings within the retail park

    Published on

AFI Romania announces that all four buildings within the AFI Arad retail park – AFI Arad Strip Mall, AFI Arad McDonald’s, AFI Arad Leroy Merlin and AFI Arad Shopping Gallery – have achieved LEED Gold certification.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the most widely recognized green building certification systems worldwide. It evaluates real estate projects based on criteria such as energy efficiency, water consumption, responsible material use, indoor environmental quality and the integration of sustainable solutions in building operations. The Gold level is awarded to projects that meet high standards of sustainability and operational efficiency.

“The LEED Gold certification for all buildings within AFI Arad is an important validation of the way this project was designed and delivered from the very early development stage. Our objective was to create an efficient retail park, well integrated into the city and aligned with the current needs of tenants and consumers. For us, this certification guarantees that AFI Arad is a sustainable project, built responsibly and with a long-term perspective,” said Sorin Scîntei, General Manager AFI Arad.

AFI Arad, opened to the public on November 1, 2023, represents the first retail park developed by AFI Romania in the country. The single-level project has a gross leasable area (GLA) of 29,400 sqm and offers 950 above-ground parking spaces. The tenant mix includes both international and national brands, such as Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, Media Galaxy, McDonald’s, Starbucks, CCC, HalfPrice, Burger King and Fressnapf.
