STRABAG supports urban mobility education in Sibiu through the BikeSchool program

    Published on

Urban Bike Revolution Association, together with STRABAG Romania, announces the continuation and expansion of BikeSchool, a program dedicated to improving safety, confidence, and essential cycling skills across all age groups.

Launched in 2021, BikeSchool has gradually developed into a local reference for education in active urban mobility. Over the years, the initiative has evolved through multiple formats, including public events in Sibiu’s central areas, neighborhood-based sessions, regular weekly meetups, and pilot programs implemented in schools. These formats have contributed to building practical skills and encouraging more people to consider cycling as a safe and accessible means of mobility.

In 2026, the program enters a new phase, structured around two main directions. BikeSchool in schools is designed for students, allowing teachers to enroll their classes for guided sessions scheduled together with the project team. BikeSchool in the park consists of weekly sessions, primarily addressing adults, organized every Wednesday between 17:30 and 19:30 in Sub Arini Park, subject to local authority approval.

“BikeSchool is essential to our mission of making cycling accessible to everyone. Too often, discussions about cycling focus only on infrastructure. In reality, it starts with skills, coordination, physical ability, and confidence. BikeSchool is designed exactly to build these foundations and make cycling both safe and appealing”. – Andrei Rusu, Founder, Urban Bike Revolution Association

At STRABAG, we support initiatives that contribute to safer and more accessible urban environments. BikeSchool is a practical way to invest in education, prevention, and community engagement, with a direct impact on how people move and interact in the city.- Gheorghe Burlacu, Commercial Business Unit Manager (Large Scale Projects Team – Sibiu), STRABAG Romania

The 2026 edition of BikeSchool starts on May 3 and is open to all age groups. Participation does not require owning a bicycle, although, due to logistical constraints, the organizers cannot currently provide bicycles for all participants.

BikeSchool is implemented by Urban Bike Revolution Association, with the support of STRABAG Romania, in partnership with the Sibiu County Police Inspectorate and Action Sport.
