Lidl donates over 3.2 million RON to equip 15 neonatal units across Romania

    Published on

To mark 15 years of activity in the local market, Lidl Romania is donating over 3.2 million RON to Save the Children Romania to equip 15 neonatal units across the country with 15 vital pieces of medical equipment. The initiative continues Lidl’s 15-year commitment to supporting social projects, with a total contribution of more than 48 million euros, including over 6.2 million euros invested in healthcare.

“For 15 years, we have been growing in Romania alongside the communities that our colleagues, customers and partners are part of. That is why we chose to mark this anniversary with an investment focused on the very beginning: the first moments of a child’s life.

The first seconds of a child’s life can look very different. For some, they mean their first contact with their parents. For others, they mean the immediate intervention of a medical team and equipment that helps them breathe, maintain their body temperature or be continuously monitored.

In such moments, access to the right equipment can be essential. Together with Save the Children Romania, we want to help reduce the disparities between maternity hospitals and provide medical teams with the resources they need to be there for every child, from the very first second,” said Mihai Cazacu, Head of Corporate Communications at Lidl Romania.

The donation of more than 3 million RON from Lidl Romania to Save the Children Romania will support the equipping of 15 neonatal units in 15 maternity hospitals across the country, ensuring that medical teams have access to the equipment they need when every second counts.

The equipment was selected based on assessments conducted by medical specialists and tailored to the specific needs of each neonatal unit. As a result, each maternity hospital will receive the equipment it needs most to care for and monitor newborns and to provide specialized medical assistance in cases requiring immediate intervention.

The donated equipment will support the treatment and care of more than 8,000 patients per year.
