Professional Recycle, a Romanian company based in Târgu Mureș, to operate Europe’s largest single-site PET recycling capacity in 2026

    Published on

Professional Recycle, a company from Târgu Mureș specializing in the recycling of PET packaging waste, has announced a new phase of expansion and operational development that will nearly triple the processing capacity of its production facility. By the end of 2026, the company aims to reach an annual capacity of approximately 90,000 tonnes, making it the largest PET packaging waste recycling and processing facility in Europe within a single production unit.

This new development marks an important milestone for Romania’s recycling industry and further strengthens the country’s position on the European circular economy map. At the same time, Târgu Mureș is emerging as one of the most important regional hubs for PET material processing and recovery, supported by the development of a modern and competitive industrial infrastructure.

As part of the expansion plan currently underway, the Professional Recycle factory was visited at the end of last week by Irineu Darău, Romania’s Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, and Adrian Giurgiu, Chairman of the Committee for Environment and Ecological Balance in the Chamber of Deputies. The official visit focused on assessing the project’s impact on industrial competitiveness, sustainable development, and the strengthening of local value chains.

“Romania can innovate, can produce technology locally, and can turn research into solid industrial projects through the commitment of the Romanian business environment. During my visit to Professional Recycle, I was pleased to see how such initiatives demonstrate that Romania has the capacity to develop modern, competitive, and future-oriented industrial investments at a European level. The circular economy can become an important driver of economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness,” said Irineu Darău, Minister of Economy.

“The expansion of our processing capacity represents a new stage in the evolution of Professional Recycle and continues a journey built through constant investment in technology, in-house research, and industrial development. We have demonstrated that competitive technology can be designed, produced, and scaled in Romania at a European level, and through this new development we are strengthening our role as a strategic supplier of secondary raw materials for essential industries. Our objective remains to actively contribute to building a modern, efficient, and responsible circular economy,” emphasized Mihail Moloiu, CEO of Professional Recycle.
