Eli Lilly and Company and the Dr. Max Foundation are launching a large-scale national screening program aimed at raising awareness of obesity as a chronic disease and encouraging people to properly assess their own health status under medical supervision.
Focused on prevention and health education regarding the risks associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome, the “Caravan for Care” will offer free blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), blood glucose, and capillary cholesterol checks. Specialized healthcare professionals will be available to provide visitors with medical information about the risks associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome, as well as recommendations on nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.
The Caravan will visit 10 major cities across Romania – Bucharest, Ploiești, Craiova, Timișoara, Oradea, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Brașov, Iași, and Constanța – between September 1 and October 9. No appointment is required for the 7,000 visitors awaited, and the full list of locations and the Caravan for Care schedule can be accessed here.

Obesity does not begin with a diagnosis, and prevention should not begin only when the first complications arise. In tackling this disease, every risk identified early can make a difference. The “Caravan for Care” is built around a simple idea – prevention should happen before complications develop – and brings early health assessments closer to communities, providing a concrete and accessible first step toward better health.
