E.ON invested approximately €2.2 million last year in community projects across Romania, bringing the total amount directed towards such initiatives in recent years to €22 million, according to the company’s 2024 Sustainability Report, published recently.
In 2024, more than 1,500 employees took part in volunteer activities, meaning that nearly a quarter of E.ON Group employees in Romania dedicated around 6,000 hours to supporting communities. In total, 150 NGOs and institutions were supported, benefiting 40,000 people directly.
The main areas of community engagement focused on improving safety culture and preparing future generations. Climate change and environmental protection, through projects and campaigns dedicated to energy efficiency, were also top priorities in 2024.
Key Projects
The “Dăruiește Lumină” (Give Light) campaign set a new record last year, with 2.6 million kWh of energy donated to schools, inclusive education institutions, and other social organizations supporting vulnerable people. Since its launch in 2015, the campaign has reached a total of 6.85 million kWh of energy donated by E.ON, together with Romanians, to numerous social centers, schools, and hospitals.
Under the slogan “Together We Make a Difference”, E.ON Romania supported vulnerable groups through both dedicated campaigns and employee volunteer work in small communities identified with the help of local associations and NGOs.

- Results included: building playgrounds in inclusive education centers, preparing and distributing hundreds of hot meals in social canteens, donating hundreds of packages to children and people in need, refurbishing dozens of school yards and interior spaces, creating welcoming reading areas and school libraries, cleaning and restoring tourist trails, planting over 58,000 trees, and organizing several blood donation campaigns at E.ON offices.

The “Together for Safety” partnership between E.ON, Inspectoratul General pentru Situații de Urgență, Departamentul pentru Situații de Urgență and Delgaz Grid celebrated its 12th anniversary last year. Every year, around 5 million Romanians are informed about safe energy use through TV and radio campaigns, as well as social media. In 2024, the “Detector for Life” campaign led to the distribution and installation of 10,000 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in households across 20 counties, highlighting their importance in preventing tragedies.
The “Energy in Childhood Schools” project modernized the lighting systems in three schools in 2024.
Since 2015, 86 schools have been equipped with more than 41,000 lighting fixtures and 96,000 LED tubes, improving learning conditions for students.
Through the “Lessons About Energy” program, 83 employee volunteers delivered 232 hours of classes on energy, safety, and environmental protection last year. More than 5,000 students from 115 schools and kindergartens learned how to stay safe around energy sources, what green energy means, and how to be more energy efficient.
