PENNY contributes to the development of a collaborative urban sustainability model through its partnership with the Sustainability Board

    Published on

PENNY România is a strategic partner of the Sustainability Board, a national program launched in 2025 and developed by Coca-Cola HBC România through the #DupăNoi sustainability platform, together with Federația Fundațiile Comunitare din România and Fundația Comunitară Prahova as the local partner. Through this involvement, PENNY contributes to the evaluation of local initiatives and supports projects that address community needs.

The Sustainability Board operates as a collaborative framework that brings together companies, NGOs, local authorities, and citizens to identify concrete urban challenges and support locally developed solutions. The program aims to move from isolated initiatives to integrated interventions built for the medium and long term.

As a strategic partner, PENNY participates in co-creation processes, consultation sessions, project proposal evaluations, and dialogue with local authorities. At the same time, PENNY supports the program’s entire portfolio of interventions in Ploiești — the CIVITECA community hub, the “Sustainable in the Neighborhood” micro-grant call, and the green space regeneration project — contributing to the development of a replicable and scalable collaboration model for more sustainable communities.

“The Sustainability Board provides the framework in which we can work together with local organizations, authorities, and experts to build interventions with real impact in communities. We support this program because we believe that environmental solutions and social cohesion come through collaboration, not isolated actions. We are pleased to contribute to projects that deliver visible results for both people and the city,” says Claudia Ivan, Head of Sustainability at PENNY Romania.

PENNY Romania’s collaboration with community foundations began through its involvement in the Environmental Platform for Bucharest, a program of Fundația Comunitară București, which funded more than 40 initiatives between 2023 and 2025, with a cumulative value exceeding 10 million lei. This experience paved the way for a separate partnership through the Sustainability Board program, developed by the Federation of Community Foundations in Romania and Coca-Cola HBC, with PENNY Romania as a strategic partner and the Prahova Community Foundation as the local implementation partner. The 2025 round, carried out in Ploiești, represents the first implementation of the Sustainability Board.
