RetuRO published the RVM requirements for the deposit-return system

    Published on

RetuRO, the company that administers the Deposit-Return System (DRS) in Romania, has published the specifications and requirements for beverage packaging vending machines (RVM).

This information is addressed to suppliers of such equipment, traders, but also to any other interested parties and can be found here.

The main purpose of this guide is to provide merchants with specific information about RVMs to ensure proper and integrated operation of these machines in the DRS. In turn, the suppliers of this equipment, which will be used within the DRS, must comply with the regulations set forth in this document and its annexes.

As a mode of operation, the machines will scan and recognize the packaging of beverages entering the Deposit-Return System, from 0.1 liters to 3 liters and which will have the SGR logo and barcode on the label. RetuRO encourages consumers to return beverage containers completely empty of liquid and with the label intact. The RVMs will issue receipts or vouchers that can be used to recover the guarantee by the consumer.

At the same time, RetuRO specifies that for the organization of a collection point it is not mandatory to be equipped with an automatic device for taking over beverage packaging and recommends that merchants registered in the Deposit-Return System make their own assessment regarding the necessity and efficiency of purchasing an RVM. Collection of packaging from consumers/citizens can be done both automatically and manually.
