    Distribuție Energie Oltenia launches the 2025 Sustainability Report: Nine years of transparency and commitment to the energy transition

    Published on

    Distribuție Energie Oltenia (DEO) publishes the 2025 Sustainability Report, the ninth consecutive report prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, reaffirming the company’s commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainable development.

    For nine years, DEO has chosen to be transparent about the impact it has on the environment, the people and the communities in which it operates. The 2025 Sustainability Report is more than a reporting document – it is a reflection of the organizational culture and how sustainability has become an integral part of the decision-making process, in the relationship with employees, partners, users and local communities.

    “The year 2025 was a moment of consolidation for Distribuție Energie Oltenia of our commitment to sustainability. Not just through the results we present in this report, but through the way sustainability has been integrated into our day-to-day work. For us, sustainability is not just a chapter of a report, but the way we choose to build the future of the electricity grid and the communities we serve”, Ondrej Safar, CEO Distribuție Oltenia.

    As the operator of a network serving over 1.52 million users in seven counties in southern and southwestern Romania, DEO reconfirms its role as a strategic partner in Romania’s energy transition.

    In 2025, DEO updated the ESG Strategy 2025–2030, introducing a new pillar dedicated to climate change adaptation, in response to the intensification of extreme weather events affecting energy infrastructure.

    Milestones of 2025: The report highlights important results across all three ESG dimensions:

    • reducing the carbon footprint by approximately 14% compared to the previous year;c
    • onnecting around 1,000 MW to the grid in the last five years, 94% of which comes from renewable sources;
    • the integration of more than 50,000 prosumers into the network, of which more than 17,000 in 2025 alone;
    • investments of RON 637.9 million, fully aligned with the EU Taxonomy;
    • contracting a green syndicated loan of RON 1.76 billion, the largest investment in distribution infrastructure in the company’s history;
    • the update of the ESG Strategy and the launch of the Horizon 30 project, which coordinates the transformation of the network for the 2030 horizon.

    People and communities at the heart of development

    The company’s more than 1,600 employees remain DEO’s main resource. In 2025, the company adopted the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy, maintained collective bargaining coverage at 100%, and continued investments in occupational health and safety. At the same time, DEO has strengthened its involvement in the community through investments of 1.48 million lei in educational and social projects.

    Digitalization and better user experience

    The modernization of the infrastructure is doubled by investments in digitalization and the improvement of the relationship with users. In 2025, User Relationship Centers’ Net Promoter Score (NPS) increased from 48 to 55 points, and unplanned network outages decreased by 0.7%.

    The company has also launched the Proactiv cu Energia platform, dedicated to education on responsible consumption and the balance of the electricity grid.

    Looking to the future

    Through the 2025 Sustainability Report, DEO reaffirms its goal of turning every investment into a concrete step towards a smarter, safer and more resilient energy infrastructure.

    The 2025 Sustainability Report demonstrates that, for Distribuție Energie Oltenia, sustainability is not just a reporting obligation, but a strategic development direction and a long-term commitment to all those it serves.
