    Published on

ROMGAZ, the largest producer, main supplier of natural gas and the largest operator of underground natural gas storage facilities in Romania, is involved in technical and vocational education – through dual education programs, private scholarships and internship initiatives, dedicated to students. Through these initiatives, the company actively contributes to the development of the necessary skills in the energy sector and creates employment opportunities for young graduates.

Partnerships with educational institutions for dual education

ROMGAZ collaborates with the “National Gas School” College in Mediaș and the Iernut Technological High School, for the professional training of students through dual education.

Over 80 students have been trained under this program since 2018, in areas such as:

    • Gas extraction, treatment, transportation and distribution operator

    • Electrician operating power plants, stations and networks

    • Boiler, steam turbine, auxiliary and district heating operator

Students admitted to dual education programs benefit from monthly scholarships worth 300 lei, work and protective equipment, as well as civil liability insurance during the internship. Practical training is carried out in the company’s branches in Mediaș, Târgu Mureș and Iernut. After completing their studies, students can be employed within ROMGAZ in vacant positions that correspond to the qualification obtained. To date, 25 graduates have been employed within the company, thus strengthening the link between education and the labor market.

Private scholarships for students – ROMGAZ Scholarships

Through the “ROMGAZ Scholarships” program, 46 students and master’s students, specializing in the fields of oil and gas, geology, geophysics and energy, benefited from ROMGAZ scholarships, and 26 of them became, after graduation, our colleagues.

These scholarships are awarded based on criteria established by competition regulations agreed together with the specialized educational institutions with which we collaborate.

ROMGAZ NextGen Internship – a bridge to a career

In August 2024, ROMGAZ launched the first edition of the “ROMGAZ NextGen” internship program, which was attended by 13 young people who participated in activities at the company’s headquarters and branches in Mediaș, Târgu Mureș, Buzău, Ploiești and Iernut. The interns benefited from a part-time program and a gross monthly allowance of 2,000 lei, being involved in activities in the fields of oil and gas, geology and energy.

Through these constant investments in the training of young people, ROMGAZ contributes to the development of a sustainable future for the energy industry in Romania and supports education as a strategic pillar of corporate social responsibility.
