Telerenta launches the Rabla program for renting electronic equipment, a first on the Romanian market, combining the circular economy with technological accessibility. Through this program, users can hand in old electronic equipment – functional or not – and receive, in return, a 150 lei voucher in their customer account, which they can use to rent a new product on the platform.

This is the first time that such a mechanism does not encourage purchase, but offers a modern alternative – rental – as a form of access to technology. The solution proposed by Telerenta thus responds to a double need: reducing equipment waste and optimizing costs for the user. It also offers a realistic alternative to the traditional consumption model – more financially flexible and more sustainable in the long term.
According to Eurostat and the Ministry of Environment, Romania generates over 120,000 tons of electronic waste annually, but recycles less than 30% of this quantity – well below the European average of around 46%. In parallel, studies by the World Economic Forum and McKinsey show that extending the lifespan of electronic equipment – including through rental – can reduce the carbon footprint associated with each individual user by up to 30%.
Direct economic impact
In this context, Telerenta proposes a solution with a double benefit: fast access and no initial investment to new technology, but also an economic incentive for a responsible form of handing over used equipment.
“In a time when more and more users are looking for flexible financial solutions, without making compromises related to technology, renting becomes a logical option. Through the Rabla program, we offer customers the opportunity to transform an old device – even a defective one – into a concrete advantage. It is a form of smart consumption, in which access, not possession, becomes the key to efficiency. At the same time, we support responsible collection and recycling through our authorized partners. We expect thousands of users to benefit from this opportunity in the first year of operation of the program,” says Andrei Stoica, Business Developer at Telerenta.
How it works
To benefit from the voucher, customers choose a product for which the monthly rent is at least 100 lei, check the RABLA option before completing the order, and upon delivery, they hand over an old piece of equipment – properly packaged – to the courier. The most frequently handed over devices are phones, laptops and tablets, but other light electronic equipment that can be transported safely can also be taken over. After validating the handover, the voucher is loaded into the customer’s account and can be used starting from the third month of rental. The credit is valid for 12 months.
Also available for companies
The program is also aimed at the corporate segment. Depending on the volume of equipment handed over, Telerenta can build personalized offers, adapted to the needs of companies that aim to modernize their technological park in an efficient and sustainable way.
All collected equipment is handed over to authorized partners for recycling, in partnership with ECOTIC, in accordance with the legislation in force.
Telerenta estimates that, in its first year of operation, the program will lead to the collection of thousands of devices, contributing to the reduction of electronic waste and the consolidation of rental as a viable alternative solution on the local market.
