Romcarbon has released its 2024 greenhouse gas emissions data, revealing direct emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) of 6,468 tonnes of CO₂e — just 9% of the Group’s total carbon footprint.
While the figure may appear significant, the company noted it is lower than the emissions produced by a single cargo ship traveling from China to Europe, emphasizing the importance of context in evaluating environmental impact.
The vast majority of Romcarbon’s emissions, 91%, stem from Scope 3 activities within its value chain. These include raw material sourcing, logistics, upstream transportation, capital goods, and employee commuting.
The report underscores the growing industry challenge of addressing indirect emissions, which are increasingly recognized as critical to corporate sustainability strategies.
