In 2024–2025, the Coca-Cola HBC Foundation awarded two grants totaling more than €400,000 to Habitat for Humanity for the reconstruction of communities in the Galați and Suceava counties affected by flooding.
The initiative is part of the Coca-Cola HBC Foundation’s commitment to support vulnerable communities during times of crisis and aligns with Coca-Cola HBC Group’s long-term vision of creating added value in the communities where it operates.
“From the very beginning, we stood by the communities in Galați that were affected by last autumn’s floods, responding immediately with drinking water for local families and investing over €200,000 in building community resilience, with the support of the Coca-Cola HBC Foundation. The results show once again that when we act at grassroots level alongside trusted partners like Habitat for Humanity, we can build a safer future for all of us—especially for the most vulnerable. That is why, in 2025, we chose to continue this partnership and support the community affected by floods in Broșteni with a new €200,000 grant. This area is strategically important for us, as we have been present in Suceava county with our Poiana Negrii (Dorna Candrenilor) plant for over 20 years. We remain committed to supporting communities across the country and intervening immediately or long-term whenever needed,” said Alice Nichita, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director, Coca-Cola HBC Romania.
The Coca-Cola HBC Foundation was established in 2023 with the mission of supporting communities in the countries where the company operates, providing grants to non-governmental organizations across four main areas:
- Community resilience, including disaster relief and recovery
- Sustainable access to safe drinking water
- Support for young people from vulnerable backgrounds
- Circular economy projects and initiatives
Last year, the foundation funded several projects, including recovery initiatives following severe flooding in multiple countries. As part of its ongoing mission, the foundation’s donations reached a total value of €2.3 million to support local communities in Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and Romania in the wake of devastating fires and floods, including efforts to restore natural forests and strengthen resilience through equipment and volunteer training.
