Education in energy efficiency is one of the most solid investments in building a modern and responsible society. That is why România Eficientă continues to prioritize its active role in preparing the younger generation for the future through an educational campaign aimed at students, carried out throughout 2025.
The events organized in public schools are based on the belief that real change begins early, by developing healthy habits from a young age that can have a long-term positive impact on energy consumption and environmental protection.
Workshops held in schools are specifically designed to bring important topics closer to children – such as energy use, waste, and responsible resource consumption – in an engaging and enjoyable way. The information is simplified and adapted to students’ age and level of understanding, with a strong practical component that can be applied in everyday life. The goal is for students not only to understand what energy efficiency is, but also why it matters and how they can contribute to responsible consumption both at home and at school.
In 2025, the România Eficientă team visited three new schools: Secondary School No. 2 in Chitila, Secondary School No. 2 in Corbeanca, and the Media Technical College in Bucharest. The workshops were designed as friendly, interactive, non-formal educational experiences aimed at sparking curiosity and encouraging active participation.
Students learned, for example, how to fight “energy vampires” – devices left plugged in that continue to consume electricity even when not in use – and the “ghosts” that waste energy overnight. Technical information was turned into memorable and playful stories that helped children understand how simple, everyday actions can prevent energy waste.
Delivered in a relaxed environment, with humorous comparisons and practical tips, the sessions captured students’ attention, helped them understand their role in protecting the planet, and boosted their confidence in becoming energy efficiency champions. At the end of each workshop, participants received the Smart Energy Consumption Guide, a România Eficientă T-shirt, and the program’s teddy bear mascot.
The initiative was also supported and appreciated by teachers, who recognize the importance of energy efficiency in buildings and the need to educate children in this area. They highlighted the practical value of the workshops as a welcome complement to formal education and expressed hope that the activities will continue and expand to reach more schools and communities.
The România Eficientă program, run by Energy Policy Group (EPG) and supported by OMV Petrom, reaffirms its commitment to sustainability education. The youth-focused campaign will continue in 2026, helping to shape a new generation that understands the value of energy and the importance of using it responsibly. Investing in their education remains the best guarantee of a more efficient and sustainable future for Romania.
