DS Smith, an International Paper company and a leading producer of sustainable packaging solutions, announces major investments of more than 14 million euros in its production infrastructure in Romania.
The most substantial investment, amounting to 10.5 million euros, will be made at the Timișoara plant by the first quarter of 2027. The project includes automation, a complete transformation of the production flow, and the expansion of the finished goods warehouse to meet next-generation logistics requirements, significantly reducing delivery lead times.
An important milestone will be the addition of a new production line in the conversion area, opening up growth opportunities with both existing and new customers through state-of-the-art technologies, improved efficiency, real-time data-based quality control, and the capability to produce new types of packaging.
At the same time, the Ghimbav plant continues its extensive investment program and will benefit in 2026 from an additional 3.6 million euros investment dedicated to infrastructure modernization and upgrades to corrugated board production equipment, with the aim of increasing operational performance and production capacity.
The ongoing investment program will enhance efficiency and capabilities and builds on the success of the 13 million euros investment launched in 2023 at the same facility.
“In 2026, DS Smith Packaging Romania continues to accelerate its investments and business transformation, with a clear growth direction and ambitious objectives for the coming period.
