RetuRO, the administrator of the Deposit-Return System (DRS), the largest circular economy project in Romania, announces the evolution and results of the program for the period January-July 2025.

Since the beginning of the year, approximately 3 billion DRS packaging has been returned by consumers, and RetuRO has handed over to recyclers a quantity of 215,000 tons of packaging.

In July, over 580 million DRS packaging were collected – this is the largest quantity since the launch of the system in November 2023 and represents 79% of the quantity placed on the market.

With a collection rate of 79% in the first seven months of this year, the DRS continues to support Romania’s transition to a circular economy, mobilizing millions of Romanians to adopt environmentally responsible behavior.
